Use Case Guide

Application Guide for Corporate Receptions

This guide outlines a configuration where Kebbi at the reception counter handles greeting visitors, asking their purpose of visit, and providing facility guidance.

Common Challenges

At reception, routing visitors, providing directions, check-in registration, and managing wait times all occur at once. Staffing a receptionist at all times imposes a heavy personnel and training burden, while relying solely on an unattended reception can leave first-time visitors confused.

What is a reception robot?

Reception robots handle reception duties—such as greeting visitors, inquiring about their business, routing them to destinations, and guiding them through facilities—either in place of staff or alongside them. They are broadly divided into tablet-style reception terminals operated solely via touchscreen and communication robots that converse through voice. Kebbi 3, provided by NUWA in Japan, belongs to the latter category and attends to visitors through a combination of voice, facial expressions, gestures, and touch interactions.

Even within reception operations, required responses differ between locations where visitors already know their destination (office visitor routing) and locations with many first-time visitors (commercial facilities, public venues, exhibitions). The former centers on fast routing, while the latter focuses on clear guidance to prevent visitors from getting lost.

Tasks suitable and unsuitable for reception robots

What You Can Delegate to Kebbi

Implementation Steps

  1. Determine the installation location and the scope of duties to delegate (reception only / up to facility guidance / up to Collibot integration).
  2. Create dialogue and task flows in Roflow. No programming is required.
  3. Organize internal guidance information and register it as questions and answers.
  4. Identify hard-to-hear words and questions without prepared answers during trial operations, and update Roflow.

Key Operational Points

Criteria for determining whether it can be used in a noisy lobby

The success of a reception robot largely depends on whether it can pick up the visitor's voice under lobby noise. The relevant specifications for Kebbi 3 are as follows.

Full specifications, including processor, camera, power supply, and expansion ports, are published on the Kebbi 3 product page.

Actual installation examples

To date, we have announced customer service robot trials in retail stores (October 2025), customer service robot trials at information desks in commercial facilities (October 2025), and adoption in local government support projects (February 2025). Please refer to the news and case studies pages for the name, details, and conditions of each project.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can a reception robot do?

It can handle greeting visitors, inquiring about the purpose of their visit, routing them to destinations, guiding them through facilities and equipment, answering FAQs, and providing multilingual guidance. Responses requiring judgment and statutory identity verification are handled by staff.

Can it pick up voices even in a noisy lobby?

Kebbi 3 combines a 4-microphone digital array with AIVC (smart noise canceling), beamforming, and sound source localization to focus on the speaker's voice even in noisy environments. Avoiding positions directly facing speakers or automatic doors during installation ensures stable operation. We recommend verifying voice capture performance in your actual environment during trial operation.

What is the difference between a communication robot and a reception terminal (tablet)?

Reception terminals require visitors to proceed by operating the screen. Because communication robots respond via voice, they make it easier to accommodate individuals unfamiliar with touchscreen operations or first-time visitors who do not know where to go. If the sole purpose is routing and visitors already know their destination, terminal devices can sometimes be faster.

Specifically, what duties can be assigned to it at reception?

You can assign greeting visitors, inquiring about their business, guiding them to hosts and facilities, and answering frequently asked questions. For guidance following reception, configurations that transfer tasks to an integrated Collibot are also possible.

When connecting with existing internal systems for routing notifications, entry logs, and more, we support integration via API. Please let us know your required integration targets.

Can it accommodate multilingual visitors?

Kebbi supports multiple languages. Available languages vary depending on region and service conditions, so please contact us with your required languages.

Can it operate during unmanned hours such as nights and holidays?

It supports remote management and monitoring via RMS, allowing operation even in unmanned environments. You can remotely check network status and application operational status, perform restarts, and launch applications. Notification destinations for abnormalities can also be configured in advance.

What are the network and power requirements for installation?

For network connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and can also connect to a wired LAN via USB OTG. For power, it uses an AC 100-240V charger (rated at 18W).

For detailed requirements specific to each installation site, we will evaluate them individually if you provide a floor plan.

We propose configurations tailored to your site

If you share your installation location, desired tasks, and required languages, we will guide you through the necessary features and implementation steps. For inquiries regarding products currently in use, our support desk is ready to assist.
